    Warehouse and Floor Markings serve various purposes

  1. Pedestrian Walkways − provide safe passage and specific areas for pedestrian traffic in an industrial setting
  2. Product Storage Areas − define specific areas for products, skids, and inventory
  3. Product Staging Areas − provide specific areas for items to be shipped prior to loading and specific areas for received items prior to storage
  4. Exit Aisles − safety areas which should be kept open or cleared – electrical panels, battery charging stations, exit doors, etc.

 

   Floor Stenciling

  1. Safety Equipment − floor markings can be painted on floor area in designating fire extinguisher locations, AED locations, eye wash stations, etc.
  2. Number Locations − for Aisle ways and Product locations
  3. Foot Prints − various colors are available − painted on the floor to direct personnel to various locations within the facility
  4. Stop Bars and Stencils − traffic intersections within the facility where fork trucks and mobile equipment need to stop and look for cross traffic

   Various Products for Floor Marking

  1. Tapes
    1. Temporary and permanent markings
    2. Ideal for Light Traffic facilities
    3. Specialized tapes do have some capabilities to be used in cold storage facilities − some limits apply
  2. Aisle Marking Paints
    1. Longer Durability − 2 to 3 years of life before recoating may be needed − depending upon traffic conditions
    2. Clear sealer over the painted lines can add durability life to the markings – highly recommended in facilities with fork truck traffic – and it and makes cleaning easier
    3. Quick drying material – provides less down time
  3. Epoxy Paints
    1. Very Durable − can last 5-7 years before recoating is required – depending on traffic conditions
    2. Ideal for heavy traffic facilities
    3. An Epoxy clear coat is recommended to add durability and make cleaning easier
    4. Requires proper surface application
    5. Curing time is longer for epoxy then less durable products − however, it saves down time due to the longevity of the product
    6. Yearly maintenance cost − averaged out over the life of the markings is less costly then less durable paints and causes less disruption to business operations
  4. Low Odor Products
    1. Available for food and processing facilities
    2. Recommendations can be made on an individual basis for each plant
